As we gather for the SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit on Nov. 8, presented by Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH) Foundation, we take a moment to reflect on the profound impact that Cass Warner has had on our industry, our community, and our hearts.
We dedicate this year’s event to Cass Warner’s memory, honoring her immense contributions to the entertainment industry and the way her legacy continues to inspire us all.
Cass Warner was more than just a filmmaker, an author, and a Warner legacy; she was a light of hope for those who knew her, worked with her, or were fortunate enough to hear her speak. Last year, I had the privilege of interviewing Cass at the SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit, where her presence was captivating, her insights inspiring, and her passion for empowering women in entertainment palpable.
I vividly remember how her words resonated with everyone in the room, from the seasoned executives to the young professionals who saw in her a reflection of the leader they aspire to become.
Cass was not only the president of Warner Sisters, but also an accomplished storyteller who made it her mission to carry forward the Warner family’s values of “Educate, Entertain, and Enlighten.” Through her film, The Brothers Warner, a tribute to her family’s extraordinary journey, she highlighted the timeless importance of innovation, leadership, and ethical storytelling. But Cass did more than just preserve a legacy — she built her own.
Her influence extended far beyond her family’s name and accomplishments.
As a trailblazing woman in Hollywood, Cass paved the way for future generations of filmmakers, writers, and visionaries. She was passionate about nurturing the next wave of talent through her nonprofit, The Dream Factory, a project that underscored her dedication to giving back. Cass’s “Inspirational Library” of thoughtful, one-on-one conversations with notable figures like Matthew McConaughey and Chick Corea reflects her unwavering belief in the power of storytelling to inspire and elevate.
Her legacy, both on and off the screen, remains a testament to the change she fostered within an industry that she deeply loved.
We dedicate this year’s SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit to Cass Warner, not only because of her vast contributions but because so much of what she stood for is reflected in the themes of this year’s event. Cass believed in empowering women, in using technology as a tool for good, and in the importance of leadership that’s grounded in integrity and social responsibility.
As we look at the program for this year’s summit, we see Cass’s values woven into every session, every panel, and every conversation.
Our keynote, “Technology as a Leadership Driver for Women,” is a reflection of Cass’s own pioneering spirit. She believed that innovation and technology could shape not just the entertainment industry but the future of leadership for women across all sectors. Her commitment to forward-thinking, ethical leadership is mirrored in our keynote speaker’s focus on how female entrepreneurs are shaping the future of tech and business.
This is exactly the type of conversation Cass would have championed — one that pushes boundaries, inspires innovation, and creates space for women to lead.
The session “Lasting Impact: Empowering the WiTH Community” reminds us of Cass’s dedication to empowering others, particularly women of all ages. Cass not only carried the weight of her family’s legacy but also took it upon herself to help others build their own. Through her nonprofit work and mentorship, she understood the importance of uplifting those around her, and this session is a tribute to her values of giving back and creating pathways for future generations.
Another standout session, “Career Trajectories in the Age of AI,” reflects Cass’s belief in the evolving nature of careers, especially for women. Just as Cass found ways to reinvent herself throughout her career—as a filmmaker, a writer, a mentor — this session will explore how technology is reshaping our career paths and how we, like Cass, can use these changes to our advantage.
Cass Warner’s dedication to social responsibility and her commitment to ethical storytelling also find echoes in our session on “Reclaiming the DEI Narrative.” Much like Cass, who used her family’s story to shine a light on the importance of unity and responsibility, this session will encourage us to find solutions that drive real progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion—values that were at the core of who Cass was as a leader.
As we come together for this year’s summit, we also have the opportunity to reflect on Cass’s belief in the power of entrepreneurship and creative expression.
Our session, “Taking Charge of Your Career: Stepping into Entrepreneurship,” is a perfect homage to the trailblazing spirit that Cass embodied throughout her career. She knew firsthand the challenges of charting your own path in an industry that isn’t always welcoming to new voices, but she also knew the incredible fulfillment that comes with following your passion.
Cass Warner’s legacy lives on in all of us. Her spirit will continue to guide us as we move forward, not just as leaders in our industries but as women who, like Cass, are committed to making a difference.
Today, we honor her memory, her leadership, and her lifelong dedication to building others up. Rest in peace, dear Cass — you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will forever inspire us.
This year’s SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit is not just an event; it’s a celebration of the life and legacy of one of our industry’s most remarkable leaders. Cass Warner’s impact on the world of entertainment, and on the countless lives she touched, will live on through us all.
With heartfelt gratitude, we hope to see you at this year’s SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit.
